Join me on a deep twelve month apprenticeship into the sacred world of drum making beginning in July 2025.
Over our time together we will gather for 6 weekends, with a bi monthly zoom call, plus 4 x 1:1 Sessions
We will be working from hide to hoop with deer hides sourced from the lands around my home, spending time together with wanders in the woodlands and down by the rivers, following deer tracks as we immerse in ourselves into becoming deer and feeling them with our animal bodies through variety of deep land based practices before moving to the practical elements of working with raw deer hides, covering all aspects of fleshing, dehairing. Once you mastered the art of Raw creating reawhide we will step into drum birthing where you will learn the art of making drums.
Throughout the year I will share with you my knowledge and sacred practice of drum making from processing raw deer hides right through to the sacred craft of Drum making, entwinned wit h a deep exploration into all things drum & rattle.
We will cover :
• Preparing raw deer hide
• Making rawhide
• The technical process & sacred art of Drum Birthing
• Rattle craft
• Plant dyeing of raw hide
• Drum art & pyrography
• How to hold drum birthing ceremony
• Exploration & mapping of you own inner landscapes in the other realms
• Different ways to work with drums
• Holding drum journey sessions.
• Deep land based practices to connect us back into the relationship with the land and our wild kin.
Plus much more.
Whats Included:
All tuition, equipment and tools will provided. You will make 3 drums over the year, each of which will be yours to take home away with you, along with any rattles or other creations you create during our time together.
Teas, Coffees and Cakes / snacks, - Please bring a sharing dish for lunch.
Please note this is not a residential course.
Our in person gatherings will take place on beautiful lands near Ludlow on the Welsh / Herefordshire borderlands on the following dates:

28th & 29th March 2026
9th and 10th May 2026.
Please note depending on what we are working there may be an additional invitations to join me on ad-hoc days - these will be fluid and offered as and when they arise. Zoom call times will be agreed at mutually convenient times with the group.
Each person will be invited to take on a project of their choice to expand their knowledge and awareness of craft and connection.
