Here is the Creation Story……
The drum's hide originates from the Highlands of Scotland, supplied by one of my favorite suppliers. In the Celtic tradition, the Red Deer is revered and seen as deeply connected with nature, spirituality, and cultural heritage. They symbolize renewal, transformation, strength, virility, and are seen as elegant spiritual guides.
The Red Deer and stag hold a place of sanctity in Celtic mythology.
The birchwood hoop that stretches this hide represents regeneration, capturing the essence of a pioneer tree, traditionally associated with the Witch’s broom, Beltane fires, Maypoles, and Yule logs.
Known as the "White Lady of the Woods," the Birch tree stands as a beacon of strength and grace. As one of the first plants to sprout leaves in spring, it epitomizes rebirth. The Birch tree is esteemed in Celtic, European, and Native American lore, linked to the Norse rune Berkana and Beith, the first letter of the Ogham alphabet.
Birthed under the New Moon, just after Samhain there is deep spiritual meaning, heightened intuition and psychic sensibilities woven into this one. But something that makes this lunation even more mystical is the grand water trine tha happened alongside it, when the new moon peaked motivating Mars, Mercury, and numinous Neptune to formi a magic triad in the skies, highlighting the emotional water signs and creating the perfect cosmic setting for everything from creative projects to magical manifestations.
The hand painted Snake on this drum is one who as been present with me for the past few days. In Celtic traditions snakes are often viewed positively and are seen as symbols of knowledge, wisdom, and rebirth, a perfect accompaniment of this New Moon. The Celtic snake symbol is derived from observations of the European viper, the only species that could endure the cold climate of the ancient Celts. Additionally, snakes represent fertility. Weaving in powers of healing, transformation, and rebirth - a perfect drum for deep work.
All my drums are birthed in deep ceremony and are cleansed with beloved plant kin, harvested from my lands.
