Shamanic Rattle - The Forest Guardian

As I walked along the Shropshire hills with a dear friend, I stumbled upon this tiny antler hidden in the mud which once belonging to a beautiful Muntjac.  Muntjacs are small deer who were introduced on to these lands over 20 years ago.   The name Muntjac originates from the Sudanese “mencek”, which means small deer and  Muntjacs are said to be oldest deer, believing to have appeared around  15–35 million years ago.  In Celtic mythology, the muntjac is associated with transformation and new beginnings. In addition, the horns of the muntjac are said to have magical properties, and the deer is often portrayed as a guardian of the forest.

The handle of this one is of a Roe Deer leg, ethically sourced from the wonderful @theforestwitch6.   There is something magical about incorporating the legs of these deer into Rattles which brings a groundedness into this creation and almost the sense of a ongoing connection in the space between you and the forest floor.

The rattle is head is crafted from Reindeer hide whichwas bathed in a beautiful blend of herbs and Aqua Marine Crystals before being switched with red waxed thread.   Reindeers hold such powerful spiritual messages that can help guide us on our personal journeys.

Inside this rattle are Red Carnelian crystals, known as the Artist stone, bringing energies of empowerment and self confidence, combined with deep passion and inner creativity inviting new wonders and magic into your life.  In folklore it is said this vibrant stone was once used by Ancient Byzantine and Assyrian cultures to foster courage, both in battle as well as during performances, where this stone was believed to help timid speakers become eloquent and bold.

And because of its red and orange hues, Carnelian is said to represent the fertile menstrual blood of the Mother Goddess Isis– the goddess of motherhood, magic, fertility, death, healing and rebirth.

Amplified by the Clear quartz that is also held inside.

Lastly this one is finsihed with Bark tanned fox fur, which weaves in energies of trickster, but also eyes that can look into the Otherworld’s and senses that will keep you on the path as your journey though the forests day or night.
