Shamanic Drum - Rattlesnake and Magnolia
This is a beautiful 14 inch Oak Wood frame drum with a Red Stag hide, which was carefully selected and traditionally cared for in the Highlands of Scotland.
Birthed in ceremony, over the Winter Solstice, finished with a hand painted Rattlesnake, amongst magnolia flowers.
All my drums come with a hand felted Drum Beater, their Creation Story & a handcrafted anointing oil, plus care instructions and suggestion of how to awaken your drum.

Birthed in the darkness of the Winter Solstice, in the betwixt and between this drum holds a very deep earth energy, rooted deep under the frozen earth, calling us back to the depths to, to rest, to dream, to nurture our roots so that come Summer we will be able to full inhabit the full potency of our power.
There is a protection woven into this Drum that feels hard to explain. A sense that this one is Truth Bringer, a guardian of sacred places, weaved with a calmness that allows you to drop into a connection of devotional care with your Soul. The Rattlesnake brings much magic, calling us to shed what is no longer needed, to transform and to rebirth into the new and ever changing world. They offer healing powers and wisdom, but also a warning that sometimes not everything is what it seems – it is here I feel her Truth. As though she is like a mirror reflecting back what needs to be seen. A balm for the shadow maybe.
The Magnolia flowers, like the Snake, speak to me of the feminine energies, bringing forth notes o, beauty, love and grace, held with strength of power and pride. The Magnolia flowers here represent new beginnings as we emerge from our Wintering, with the sweetness of joy.
She is made from Red Stag Hide, who roamed in the Highlands of Scotland and was carefully prepared. The Gaelic for red deer is Fiadh Ruadh and in the Highlands people once called them ‘fairy cattle’ believing fairies milked them on mountain tops and with stories of woodland deities like Diana, Artemis and the God Cernunnos all being closely associated with Deer, there are clues to some of what this beautiful drum contains, held with grace, gentleness, devotion, speed, agility and intuition.
Held on a 14 inch Oak Frame who I walked the circle of 13 oak trees with before I birthed this drum. When I walk the boundaries here I often sense these Oaken elders are deep in council and holding and balancing the membranes between Human and More than Human Kin. That sense of holding is powerfully felt in this drum and will help hold solid ground for those journeys to the other realms.
Oaks are stepped in Folklore & Myth. They are said to hold tremendous healing powers, which some say can bring the greatest healing simply by walking around an Oak tree and wishing the illness to be carried off by the first bird that fly’s from its branches.
In Cornwall it was said a nail driven into an oak cured toothache, while in Wales, rubbing the oak with the palm of your left hand on Midsummer’s Day kept you healthy all year.
Oaks are said to give a special virtue to other plants that grew upon its trunk or branches, such as the mistletoe and polypody fern. The herbalist Gerard said, ‘that which growth on the bodies of olde Okes is preferred before the rest: in steede of this most do use that which is found under the Okes….’
The Oak in this drum weaves in Strength, protection, steadfastness.
This will be a powerful drum for calling forward what is true is in your world. For love and beauty and connection to the deep feminine energies that lay deep in the Earth. She brings with her an invitation to step into Beauty and discover new ways in intimacy with the seen and unseen worlds.
All my drums are birthed in deep ceremony and are cleansed with beloved plant kin, harvested from my lands.
