Shamanic Drum - Owl Wisdon

16 inch, red deer hide from my favourite supplier in the Highlands of Scotlands, on an ash hoop. Hand painted with a Tawny Owl. In the Celtic traditions Red Deer are held in high regard  and are closely intertwined with nature, spirituality, and cultural heritage. They are symbols of renewal, transformation, strength, virility, and are viewed as graceful spiritual guides.

The Red Deer and stag are considered some of the most sacred animals in Celtic mythology.

My night time comes alive with Owl. I always feel so blessed to live so close to these wise ones as their home is in the woodlands nestled by my cottage.

Their calls pierces the darkness with a mirad of hauntingly beautiful sounds that are let you know the nighttime wanders are alive. if you sit with your eyes close sometimes it’s as though I can hear what they are saying. They move from the woods, to the ash trees, down into the gorge, where they have a strange kind of echo woven in their call, or rest in the birch by the pools or the oaks on the edge of the hills.

Sometimes I am lucky enough to catch their flights or be gifted with the wise one who perches on the gate post.

They are always watching

This drum feels like those owls.

Nighttime guardians of the inbetween spaces and holders of the liminal. This one speaks to me of love. She says she’s knows this is not what you expected, but it is what your soul came here for. She holds a reminder of deep wisdom that before anything else we first need to come home to ourselves. We need to walk our truth and live in our@own vibration of authenticity even if that challenges every one else’s view.

And she holds a whisper that sometimes we just need to just lay our ears on the ground, or sit under dark starlit skies to find our way.

She’s a drum to call your Soul forward. She’s love. That deep unconditional love, first & foremost for yourself.

Owls to me are- the ones who fly’s on silent wing is often seen as a Guardian Spirit offering protection particularly during ritual and ceremony. They represent insight, intelligence, and foresight.
